Chimpanzee trekking is one of the highlights in Uganda, and you will quickly understand why! After a briefing with the Ugandan Wildlife Authority, each group gets assigned a guide and two armed rangers, then starts its journey in the deep forest of Kibale National Park, also known as the "primate capital of the world". You will definitely hear the chimps before you get to see them, as they're warning each other of Human presence - don't get scared by the loud noises, your guide knows its way through the forest! Once you find them, you get to spend an hour with them, whether they're feeding in the trees, on the ground, or moving around. Enjoy each minute!

Uganda is home to a stunning array of crater lakes, which are formed in volcanic calderas or by volcanic explosions.The lakes offer breathtaking views and opportunities for hiking, photography, and nature walks. They are even safe to swim in, as no crocodiles or hippos live in their waters! Amongst the most famous ones are lake Nyinambuga which features on the UGX 20,000 note, lake Nkuruba and its views of the Rwenzori mountains, and lake Bunyonyi.

The Chris Roberts Forest Foundation was started by the owners of Turaco Treetops in an effort to support the growth of the forest areas around Kibale National Park. The Foundation is working with local communities to ensure that both the people and the wildlife live in harmony. Take a walk through the newly plantations of coffee and macademia trees, and follow the pathway around the forest to learn more about the areas. If you are lucky, you might see some monkeys, or the famous great blue turaco!
