The Kalahari is a Semi-Desert, and is part of a huge sand basin that stretches from the South Africa up to Angola. The Kalahari is also home to the San, who have been living in the area for approximately 60.000 years. Until today, the San have kept most of their traditional culture, and are astonishingly well-adapted to the harsh life in the Kalahari.
The Kalahari Desert covers approx 900,000 square kilometres.
The temperatures in the Kalahari Desert are extreme, with summers being very hot while winter temperatures can go below zero degrees Celsius at night.
Wildlife such as gemsbok, meerkat, and brown hyena can be spotted here.
