White Lady Painting Brandberg Damaraland

White Lady Painting in Damaraland

Rock paintings over a 1000 years old

Information about White Lady Painting

The Brandberg is an open-air art gallery with more than 43 000 individual rock paintings. But it is a single painting that made the mountain especially famous. The White Lady Painting painting is located in a cave known as Maack Shelter and portrays several human figures as well as oryxes (a type of antelope) on a rock panel. Interestingly, the White Lady is neither a lady or white. But you will learn more about that when visiting these rock paintings that are estimated to be approximately 1000 to 2000 years old.

Damaraland Nature Drive

Enjoy a nature drive in Damaraland. You might even be so lucky to spot the elusive and rare Desert Adapted Elephants! These elephants are slightly smaller compared to the Elephants you find in National Parks, and can cover extremely large distances. Depending on the rainy season, they can be spotted roaming the Ugab River. Sightings cannot be guaranteed, but if there is one place in Namibia to spot these impressive giants, it is here.
